Car Price vs Fuel Price Hike

I have read somewhere about this interesting article but can’t remember from where I got the source (To the author, I’m so sorry). The article is all about the fuel hike and the car price in Malaysia which should go hand by hand, according to the author. From the author’s point of view, he is arguing about how can the fuel subsidies be reduced or taken off when they were actually already calculated in the form of taxes and duties towards imported cars. Giving an example of Toyota Car price in Malaysia which is almost double of its original price elsewhere (that is after the tax and duties), the author actually got strong ground when he is saying that how come we need to follow ‘international oil price’, yet we do not follow ‘international car price’. Furthermore, the author said that the taxes and duties over the imported cars have already exceeded the sum of fuel subsidies given.

To summarize what the author has argued, the price of imported car should be reduced whenever the fuel subsidies need to be reduced.

Maybe this ‘argument’ can act as a stepping stone for the government to find alternatives in helping all the Malaysian people facing such sky-high crude oil conflict. All the best!!!
