Fuel Rebate will be stopped in April

According to Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister, Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad, starting from April, rebates for fuel would not be continued as the pump price of fuel had fallen greatly. The price of fuel now is very low compared to the time when the rebate was introduced (which was when the petrol price skyrocketed from RM1.92 to RM2.70. The rebate mechanism would be reactivated if fuel prices rose above USD80 (RM288) a barrel. Currently, the price of crude oil is at USD41 a barrel.
