After the compulsory wearing of rear seatbelt on private vehicle imposed early this year, the authority are looking into the usage of seatbelt on public transport, namely express buses and taxis.

According to Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ), they are looking into the second phase of implementing the seat belt usage on express buses, but have yet to confirm it, as they with the collaboration of Polis Diraja Malaysia are still looking into the effectiveness of the first phase, namely private vehicle rear seatbelt usage.

Meanwhile, according to the Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, the implementation of rear seatbelt will not only stop at private vehicle, hence, will also be imposed on taxis.

Better be safe, than be fined or worst, be sorry…
