Taxi OH Taxi…..
I was surfing the net in front of the TV when I overheard a section about ‘Hak Kita’. What interests me is the topic, ’taxi’. It is about the consumer’s right in using the taxi services. We have heard about how taxi charges inconsistent from one to another, the charges is too high, taxi are unwilling to sent passenger to certain places (normally involved ’traffic jam’ route destination) and many more.

A taxi driver giving his comment on how the ‘pergi ke xxxxx bole, berapa?’ (can u take me to xxxx, how much?) scenario was actually created by the passengers themselves, where the passenger will normally ask that question right after they open the taxi door. For me, as one of the passenger, I have experienced many types of taxi driver, where some will stop & then ask where I want to go, and if the place involve traffic jam route, the driver will not want to take me there, giving excuse that he is going to other destination. Others, if they agree to go to the desired place, will set a price and only take me if the I agree to it. But one of the best experiences that I have experienced is the ‘white towel covering the meter’ tactic. Taxi driver will cover their meter with a towel, normally white, and will demand higher fare that might have been differed from the actually fare calculated by the meter.
It has been reported that some of the wrongdoing of the taxi drivers are:
1) Not using the meter
2) Asking higher fare than it should be.
3) Unwilling to take passenger (choosy)
4) Not wearing the uniform
But not all taxi drivers are that unethical. There are many of them who are willing to help us, giving their best and sincere service. Do not assume that all taxi drivers are the same just because one of two.
In case we come across with this ’unethic’ taxi drivers, what we should do is using our right by filing a report using:
