Rear Safety Belt - A MUST?

April 30th, 2008

Rear safety belt, a must?

Starting from June 2008 onwards, the passengers behind will have to ‘buckle up’ before a car journey, to make sure law is followed, but what is most important is their safety & people sit in front of them.

The law is strictly for the car which was produced after 1995, with exceptional to Perodua Kancil & Perodua Kenari which do not have rear selt belts, & do not even have ’special point’ to affix it. The car which was produce before 1993 or 1995 was proposed by The Road Safety Department to be temporarily exempted from rear selt belt ruling (possibly 3 years grace period) when it comes into effect.

There is also a proposal for the passenger sitting behind who get caught of not wearing sealtbelt, where they will not be issued summonses for a 3 month grace period, but it is yet to be finalised.

It is a good effort to reduce the accident rate, but what is more important is that the driver to practise more cautions & care when they are behind the wheel.

HAPPY DRIVING!!!
